International Beer Day is August 5th

If #IPADay doesn’t fit into your schedule, or if you’re just looking to celebrate back-to-back beer days, then get ready for International Beer Day, which takes place on August 5th.

International Beer Day

International Beer Day was founded in 2007, and takes place in pubs, clubs, bars, breweries, beer gardens and back yards all over the world, giving makers, lovers and sellers of beer another reason to raise a glass.

According to the founders of International Beer Day, the purpose is threefold:

  • To gather with friends and enjoy the deliciousness that is beer.
  • To celebrate the dedicated men and women who brew and serve our beer.
  • To bring the world together under the united banner of beer, by celebrating the beers of all nations and cultures together on this one remarkable day.

In addition to offline events, which are intended to celebrate the establishments who produce beer, sell beer and give folks a place to enjoy beer, you can also show your support online by RSVPing to the very popular International Beer Day Event on Facebook, or by tagging everything on August 5th with #IntlBeerDay

#IPADay Arrives On August 4th

Tomorrow is International #IPADay, a new ‘holiday’ that aims to be the world’s largest celebration of craft beer.

According to @AshleyRoutson (aka The Beer Wench) and @RyanARoss, the creators of #IPADay:

International #IPADay is a grassroots movement created to unite the voices of craft beer enthusiasts, bloggers, and brewers worldwide, using social media as the common arena for connecting the conversation together.

On Thursday August 4th, craft beer drinkers across the social sphere and across the globe will raise pints in a collective toast to one of craft beer’s most iconic styles: the India Pale Ale. This celebrated style represents the pinnacle of brewing innovation with its broad spectrum of diverse brands, subcategories, and regional flavor variations – making it the perfect style to galvanize the craft beer’s social voice.

To take part in #IPADay, just share your photos, videos, blog posts, tasting notes, recipes and thoughts on Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, WordPress, Foursquare, Gowalla, Yelp or any other social media platform that you use. You should tag any and all things that you share with the hashtag #IPADay, and you can search for that hashtag to see what others are saying as well. (Give it a try at

In addition to the digital celebration, there are many ‘real-life’ #IPADay events that are taking place all across the country at breweries, brewpubs, restaurants, bars, homes and offices. For a list of local events, just visit This Page on

The ultimate goal of #IPADay is to make craft beer more accessible to the masses, so be sure to encourage your non-beer drinking friends to break from their normal beverage routine and join you in the celebration by enjoying an IPA on August 4th. You certainly won’t be alone!
